MARQUETTE, MI – Jeremy J. Moran, 36, of Marquette, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023 at UP Health Systems, where he had been admitted earlier in the day.
Jeremy was born in Marquette, on September 3, 1986, son of Phil and Kim Moran. He attended Marquette Public Schools, graduating with honors in 2005 and receiving a Kauffman Award. Jeremy later attended NMU and received two Bachelor's Degrees one in Sociology and one in Art and Design. During his college years, Jeremy worked at Radio X, where he and his cousin, Thom Moran, hosted a weekly radio show.
During his youth, Jeremy was involved with Marquette Junior Hockey, playing many years on travel teams, and being named Captain to many of them. Hockey remained a lifelong passion. Jeremy also loved music and attending concerts. He was dedicated to supporting and promoting local talent. To that end, he started a small business called "Van Party Tapes", in which he took recordings and designed the covers and sleeves for CDs and cassettes for local musicians to sell.
A friend introduced Jeremy to the sport of Disc Golf which he grew to excel at, playing in many local and national tournaments. He also organized and managed many local events, his favorite being the "Ace Race," much enjoyed by enthusiasts of the sport. Jeremy worked for several years at Nagelkirk Landscaping and spent one summer as a greenskeeper at Marquette Golf Club. His final employment was with Checker of Marquette. Jeremy enjoyed spending time at the family camp in Big Bay, especially on Fire on the Bay, where he and his friends prided themselves on producing a stellar fireworks display.
Jeremy is survived by his father, Phil Moran (Dianne Hall), his mother, Kim Moran, his brother, Michael Moran (Lilly Day) of Seattle WA, his aunt, Michele Moran (Mike Springer), his uncle, Sean Moran (Sue Moran), aunts, Jean Moran and Kay Falcus, his uncle, Larry Langford (Debbie Langford), his aunt, Pat Langford, his cousins, Jackie Moran (Nick Wohlfeil) and Bridget Moran, John, Joey and Jack Falcus, Eddie (Summers and Eddie, Jr.) Langford, Jenny Langford (Chase Riutta) and his littlest cousins, Cecelia and Kody, whom Jeremy loved to read to. Jeremy had many friends, including Troy Graham, who considered Jeremy his brother, also surviving is his furry friend, Daisy.
Jeremy was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Jerry and Bonnie Moran, his maternal grandparents, Floyd and Katie Langford, his cousin, Thom Moran, and his uncles, Ed Langford and Jack Falcus.
A Celebration of Jeremy's Life will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Moran family camp on Squaw Beach Road in Big Bay.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the U.P. Disc Golf Association (UPGDA), 40 Moon Shadow Ridge, Negaunee, MI 49866, to help fund the construction of the Buck Buchanan Memorial Disc Golf Course, next to Powder Mill at the Dead River in North Marquette.
