Oscar Performance Tops Mill Ridge Stud Fees at $45K - BloodHorse

Oct 18, 2024Oct 18, 2024

Mill Ridge Farm announced Oct. 17 stud fees for the 2025 breeding season for Oscar Performance , Aloha West , and, new to its roster this year, Casa Creed . Oscar Performance will stand for $45,000, Aloha West for $8,500, and Casa Creed for $10,000, all of them for a live foal.

With five graded stakes winners this year, Oscar Performance is currently the leading third-crop sire of graded stakes winners by percentage of starters, ahead of Justify , Good Magic , City of Light , Bolt d'Oro , and others. Born and raised at Mill Ridge, Oscar Performance has proven himself a versatile sire with stakes winners on turf and dirt. His fee climbs from $25,000 for 2024.

"From Trikari's brilliant 3-year-old campaign culminating with his grade 1 win, Endlessly running well in the Kentucky Derby, to Tumbarumba considering a run in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile, it has been an inspiring year for Oscar Performance's offspring on the track." said Price Bell, general manager of Mill Ridge.

Millionaire Aloha West is property of a syndicate and had very good support from them and breeders in his first season, covering a quality book of mares.

"His foals are outstanding and we look forward to the public assessing them in November," said Bell.

He won the 2021 Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) over eventual champion male sprinter Jackie's Warrior and grade 1 winner Dr. Schivel . Mill Ridge calls him the entire package of racing performance, pedigree blend, outstanding physical and exceptional value.

Casa Creed is also property of a syndicate and is considered to be "the throwback horse" beneficial to the modern breed. Mill Ridge believes he will make a real contribution in the future.

Casa Creed took owners Lee Einsidler and Mike Francesa around the world, winning or placing in 18 stakes, fulfilling their dreams and those of his adoring fans. He launched his career as a 2-year-old win at Saratoga Race Course on dirt in his second start, and would go on to win four graded stakes at the Spa. During his seven-year career, he made 36 starts, 28 in graded stakes, including 17 grade 1 races, and earned nearly $2.7 million. He was particularly effective in long turf sprints and grass races at a mile.

"He showed up for every race ... what a brilliant racehorse and one who will contribute to our breed," said Bell.

Both Aloha West and Casa Creed benefit from Mill Ridge's Ride Together incentive, which will give the registered breeder of the live foal a free season when that foal wins a maiden special race at ages 2 or 3, rewarding the breeder as Aloha West and Casa Creed launch their career as stallions with winners on the racetrack.
