Oct 14, 2024A Suffolk village nestled between the Orwell and Stour rivers has been named one of the UK's loveliest autumnal spots.
Shotley Peninsula was named by Country Town and House as one of the loveliest autumnal spots in the UK.
A special mention was given to author and journalist, Arthur Ransome, who was said to have moved to Suffolk when writing We Didn't Mean To Go To Sea.
The seventh book in the Swallows and Amazons series of children's books is set in Suffolk, exploring Pin Mill, the Shotley Peninsula and the Orwell river.
The Shotley walking trail is particularly perfect in autumn and is six miles long.
The trail takes you to Alton Water, Lower Holbrook, Pin Mill, Shotley Pier, Suffolk Food Hall and Woolverstone Marina with Arthur Ransome panels along the way.
