Sep 16, 2023Suffolk coastal flood warnings ahead of rainy forecast | East Anglian Daily Times
Parts of the Suffolk coast have received a flood alert ahead of heavy rain forecast this weekend.
Minor flooding to coastal roads and footpaths is expected between 11.45am and 1.45pm on Friday.
This is the second warning from the government website, previously alerting to flooding overnight Thursday into Friday.
Tides are expected to be higher than usual, affecting Felixstowe boat yard at the end of Ferry Road, the riverside areas in Woodbridge and Waldringfield and the surrounding marshland.
An alert has also been issued from Felixstowe to Clacton.
The waterfront at Pin Mill to The Strand at Wherstead may also be affected.
The warning also covers the coast at Southwold which could see high tide levels.
The warning on the website said: "Take care on coastal roads and footpaths, and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger.
"We are monitoring the situation and not expecting the situation to escalate.
"We will update this message by 6pm, Friday 18th October."
