Sep 16, 2023Trenton’s Historic Mill Hill Neighborhood kicks off summer with its 32nd annual garden tour
TRENTON – Trenton's Old Mill Hill Society is set to host its 32nd Annual Urban Garden Tour on June 10 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased in advance through www.TrentonMillHill.org or on the day of the event at Artworks Trenton, 19 Everett Alley across from Trenton's DMV office.
For 32 years, this eclectic walking tour has offered an incredible celebration of early summer, and a chance to take in dozens of highly curated, urban gardens behind the historic, brick facades of the neighborhood, according to a statement from the hosts. Homeowners are also known to host live artists, music, specialty drinks, and more.
"The Garden Tour is one of Trenton's most long-standing, celebrated summer events and offers everyone… including neighbors, families, friends, and attendees to browse dozens of incredibly landscaped urban gardens and public spaces situated behind one of the most beautifully historic neighborhoods in Central New Jersey," said Meaghan Singletary, co-chair of the 2023 Garden Tour and co-owner of the of Out of Step Offbeat Boutique & General Store said in the statement. "Not only are my fiancé Joseph and I co-chairing the Garden Tour Committee this year together but it's our first year living in the neighborhood and we’re incredibly excited to be involved and open our own garden for everyone to see!"
The tour is organized by the Old Mill Hill Society and the residents of Mill Hill. It has played an essential role in the restoration of the neighborhood. Money raised by the tour funds historic preservation grants that assist Mill Hill home and business owners in maintaining the landmark standards that have helped make the neighborhood what it is today.
"I’m truly looking forward to this year's OMHS Garden Tour," said Old Mill Hill Society President Oriol R. Gutierrez Jr. "As visitors walk around Mill Hill viewing our stunning private gardens and historic houses, I hope they also enjoy this year's additions of live music and art throughout the neighborhood. It's a wonderful chance for visitors and locals to connect with each other."
