CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Those residents in western Nueces County who have been without water since Thursday, should have water once again according to the South Texas Water Authority General Manager John Marez.

On Thursday, a 63 thousand gallon water storage tank collapsed along FM 2826 and County Road 79.

That caused folks in Agua Dulce and neighborhoods south of Robstown to lose all their water.

Parts of Banquete were also left high and dry.

But now a bypass has been installed at that damaged pump station. Luckily, there was a nearby transmission line which could be used to get water back into the system.

There is still a water boil alert for customers on those lines.

That collapsed tank was removed by a demolition company and a new one will end up being installed sometime in the future.

No one knows what caused the collapse but 3NEWS was told that it and the other equipment there is routinely inspected and everything had been checking out fine.
