Whether you're making delicate macarons or hearty homemade bread, a stand mixer is an essential tool for many recipes. And with the holidays just around the corner, it's a great time to invest in a stand mixer or gift one to the home cook in your life. Good news: just in time for peak baking season, two of our top-tested stand mixers are on sale now.

Our best-tested stand mixer from KitchenAid and our favorite multi-purpose stand mixer from Cuisinart are both are over 20% off at Amazon. But which appliance deal is actually worth the investment? Our sales and deals team reviewed price history, consulted our in-house experts at the Good Housekeeping Institute and pulled Lab notes from our Kitchen Appliances Lab to help you find the best stand mixer deal for your money.

The KitchenAid Artisan Series stand mixer is our best overall pick for stand mixers for a reason. It aced our Lab tests, effortlessly producing whipping cream to kneading bread dough with ease. Also included are a pouring shield and three versatile attachments — a flat beater, a dough hook and a whisk — but you can purchase a variety of additional attachments separately, like a pasta maker or juicer. This model in particular has a 5-quart capacity and comes in several colors.

"The KitchenAid Artisan Series continues to dominate this field," says Nicole Papantoniou, Kitchen Appliances & Innovation Lab Director at the GH Institute. It's largely considered the gold standard of stand mixers — with a price tag to match. The model retails at a hefty $460 at full price.

However, you can get KitchenAid's Artisan Series on sale for $350, or 24% off, making it just $20 more than its lowest price of 2024 (we saw this go on sale for $330 in May 2024). Its current price is the same deal we saw during both 2024 Prime Days and last year's Black Friday, so we don't expect to see a better deal any time soon.

On the other hand, the Cuisinart Precision Master stand mixer offers impressive performance at a lower price tag. In fact, the whisk whipped excellent fluffy egg whites and cream in our tests. Papantoniou noted that the mixer can handle gentle mixing all the way up to stiff doughs — though the head may move while kneading stiffer bread recipes. It comes with the same basic attachments as the KitchenAid. The splash guard comes with a pour spout that clips onto the mixing bowl, making it easier to pour out ingredients and keep your countertops mess-free.

At full price, Cuisinart's Precision Master stand mixer costs $250, or $210 cheaper than the KitchenAid model. It's on sale now for $192, or 23% off — the same deal we saw during both Prime Days. However, we've seen this budget-friendly model drop as low as $135, or 46% off this year, so we may see a steeper discount closer to the holidays.

Design-wise, the KitchenAid and Cuisinart stand mixers offer comparable features. Both models offer a tilt-head, meaning that they have a hinged neck that makes it easier to insert and remove attachments. While they differ slightly in terms of motor strength, speed variety and bowl capacity, Papantoniou says that in terms of performance, the two models are quite similar.

"The Cuisinart is a great option if you’re looking for something better priced to get the job done," Papantoniou shares. "But if you’re looking for something more decorative and customizable, the KitchenAid would be a better option. It comes in a lot more colors, has more bowl options and a lot more attachments."

All in all, if you have your heart set on a splurge-worthy KitchenAid stand mixer, now is a great time to invest while it's over $100 off. But if $350 is still out of your price range, the Cuisinart is an excellent alternative at a more accessible price — though you may want to hold out until Black Friday to score the best price possible.
