(Renville MN) Two men were hurt Friday morning when scaffolding fell inside a large storage tank at the Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative plant in Renville. The Renville County Sheriff's Department says at approximately 6:34 a.m. Friday they got a call regarding two individuals that had fallen from scaffolding inside a storage tank at the Coop, 2 miles northeast of Renville.
The preliminary investigation showed two individuals, identified as 22-year-old Chance Anderson from Adams, and 30-year-old Tedrick Coleman from Baton Rouge, Louisiana were working while on top of the scaffolding when coworkers were attempting to reposition the scaffolding when it tipped over, causing the two males to fall approximately 35-40 feet to the ground.
Both victims were removed from the storage tank and received medical care by rescue crews on scene.
Tedrick was flown from the scene by LifeLink III to St. Cloud Hospital with suspected serious injuries. Anderson was transported by Olivia Ambulance to the Olivia Airport where LifeLink III then flew him to St. Cloud Hospital. Anderson also has suspected serious injuries.
Agencies assisting on scene were the Olivia Ambulance Service, Renville Fire Department, Granite Falls Ambulance, LifeLink III.
The Renville County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.
