Jun 26, 2023Yamaha Introduces the New DM7 Series of Professional Digital Mixers
BUENA PARK, Calif. (PRWEB) June 06, 2023
Today, Yamaha announced the new DM7 Series of professional digital mixers, delivering next level efficiency and agility for the most creative sound engineers. After decades of developing best-in-class technologies, the Yamaha DM7 Series combines the greatest elements of leading digital mixing systems with innovative new features in a powerful, ergonomic, flexible, and expandable package.
"In a world where audio manufacturers and musical instrument makers stand apart, Yamaha is the only company bridging the gap with our new DM7 Series," said Preston Gray, Director of Marketing, Professional Audio, Yamaha Corporation of America. "Whether mixing live at FOH or streaming broadcast mixes, Yamaha has intricately woven its renowned musical heritage and most advanced technology into the DM7 Series, amplifying the essence of every performance with this high-powered audio system."
Designed to deliver intuitive operation, reliability and superb sound to achieve a maximum level performance, the DM7 Series offers four purchase options, including a 120-channel (DM7) and 72-channel (DM7 Compact) mixing console, each with an additional control expansion unit (CTL-DM7).
SCALABILITY:The DM7 can process 120 input channels and features 32 local inputs, and 16 local outputs. The DM7 Compact can process 72 channels has 16 local inputs, and 16 local outputs. Both models feature up to 144 in/out Dante networking at 96kHz, 48 mix, 12 matrix and two stereo busses.
With the purchase of the CTL-DM7, the mixing console provides more tactile encoders and faders for increased flexibility. The DM7 Series can be used with 1st and 2nd Generation Yamaha R Series I/O Racks and unlocks their 96kHz functionality. In addition to Rios, DM7 supports a wide range of Dante devices for extremely scalable audio systems.
SOUND QUALITY:The DM7 Series captures audio with pristine accuracy and provides the tools for users to take their creative expression to the next level. The channel strip features the four varieties of channel EQ from the flagship RIVAGE PM Series alongside the completely new FET Limiter and Diode Bridge Compressor.
Both the DM7 and DMC7 are equipped with 64 channels of Dan Dugan auto-mixing. Also included are a range of Yamaha's acclaimed Virtual Circuitry Modeling (VCM) plug-ins, such as the Portico 5033 equalizer and Portico 5043 compressor/limiter (created in cooperation with Rupert Neve Designs), as well as the DaNSe dynamic noise suppressor and Dynamic EQ.
Two large 12.1-inch multi-touch screens (one on the DM7 Compact) combine intuitive, multi-touch operation with precise function, containing Yamaha's familiar ‘touch and turn’ knobs. A new, advanced Selected Channel View displays a list of information on individual channels, allowing quick access to the parameters, and the overview screen for analog mixer-like operation. A histogram display has also been added to the input meters to help manage head amp levels.
FUNCTIONALITY:New and unique to Yamaha, DM7 features ‘Split Mode,’ which divides the input channels, scenes, and mix busses, letting one DM7 or DM7 Compact function like two separate mixers.
Onboard Dante networking supports up to 144 input and output channels. The DM7 Series also features a rear panel USB-C port with 18 input/output audio interface functionality for recording, distribution, playback, connection to conferencing systems, and control via MIDI devices and DAWs.
Reliability is ensured through a redundant power supply. The new Assist function which suggests head amp adjustments, naming and fader balance, helping users to reduce preparation time.
A wide range of software and apps - including DM7 Editor, DM7 StageMix, MonitorMix, Console File Converter, ProVisionaire Control and ProVisionaire Touch - are also supported, which allow offline preparation, wireless mixing, monitor mixing and control (including peripheral equipment).
The DM7 Series includes an Open Sound Control (OSC) server function, which enables the consoles to be controlled from OSC-compatible devices, and the DM7 Compact can be mounted in a standard 19" rack for convenience.
EXPANDABILITY:With the DM7-EX and DM7-EX Compact systems, the units add two additional faders, user defined controls, a jog wheel for DAW control, scene memory, panner and monitor controls.
The DM7-EX, DM7-EX Compact and Control units are all bundled with Broadcast Package and Theatre Package software upgrades. The Broadcast Package has functions to enhance the convenience of broadcast mixing, including 5.1 Surround support, Mix Minus, Audio Follow Video and Loudness Meter. The Theatre Package includes Actor Library, DCA Scene Grid and AFC Image control, and other theatrical application function. These packages can be purchased separately as an upgrade for DM7 and DM7C users.
