Sep 16, 2023College of Business Hosts Successful Student Mixer - Texas A&M University-Commerce
The College of Business at Texas A&M University-Commerce held one of its most successful student mixers of the semester on September 18, 2024. The event took place on the third-floor balcony of the Nursing and Health Sciences Building, offering stunning views of Charles S. Garvin Lake, and drew roughly 100 attendees. This mixer is part of the college's ongoing initiatives to promote student engagement beyond the classroom.
Students had the unique opportunity to interact with College of Business Dean Scott Wheeler, faculty and staff members, and CoB alumni. The event provided an invaluable platform for students to network with peers, build relationships with faculty, and engage with alumni. Attendees were treated to a Chick-fil-A dinner and received exclusive College of Business t-shirts as part of the event.
The mixer is one of many efforts by the College to foster student engagement and provide opportunities for networking, and it has been one of the most successful events of the semester so far.
Wheeler expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We are constantly looking for ways to engage with our students both inside and outside the classroom. In addition to workshops, panels, alumni events, and networking opportunities, this semester we introduced this mixer as a new way for our faculty, staff, and alumni to connect with our students. One of our strengths as a university is our smaller class sizes, which allow us to build meaningful relationships with our students and truly transform their lives—not just academically but personally as well.”
