Two men suffer serious injuries after falling 40 feet from inside a storage tank in Renville County - West Central Tribune | News, weather, sports from Willmar Minnesota

RENVILLE — Two men suffered serious injuries after falling from the top of scaffolding while working at the Southern Minnesota Sugar Beet Coop .

According to a news release from Deputy Luke Jacques, the Renville County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding two individuals who had fallen from scaffolding inside a storage tank in the 83000 block of Renville County Road 21, approximately two miles northeast of Renville.

Emergency responders found 22-year-old Chance Anderson, of Adams, and 30-year-old Tedrick Coleman, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, had fallen about three to four stories onto the ground.

Both men were removed from the storage tank and treated by rescue crews on the scene. Coleman was flown to the CentraCare — St. Cloud Hospital with suspected serious injuries.

According to the news release, Anderson was transported by Olivia Ambulance to the Olivia airport, where LifeLink III then flew him to the St. Cloud Hospital. Anderson also suffered suspected serious injuries.

According to Jacques, preliminary investigation showed Anderson and Coleman were working while on top of the scaffolding when co-workers were attempting to reposition the scaffolding. It then tipped over, causing the two men to fall about 35 to 40 feet to the ground.

The incident remains under investigation.

The Renville County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Renville Fire Department, Granite Falls Ambulance, Olivia Ambulance Service and Life Link III.
